Being a Custom Home Builder, and Remodeler I get to see first hand, trends in housing. Wether it is about the disappearing Living Room (More on that in my next post), or Home Automation with consumer friendly products like Control4, (Standard in each of my homes by the way). One of the biggest trend in housing, new and old is Flexibility. Many new designs have Flex Spaces, rooms that offer multiple uses for multiple family members.
Let’s face it, if we all had our own way, and Bill Gate’s money, we would be able to build dream custom homes that have many additional rooms that serve important purposes. Like an Arts and Crafts Room, a Hobby Room, A Home Office, or even an Art Studio.
As you can see above, you can see a Laundry Room that can serve as a work station, a communication center (chalk board), project center. In fact, I have a very similar room located right next to my Kitchen, and during the Holidays we convert the Flex Space into a bar for our guests.
Below we created a great Holiday Wrapping Station
See the use of Pottery Barn storage shelves, and our custom chalk board. This room functions as a true flex space. Offering utility, organization, and elegance all in one room.
